Jerry Mellix, AKA "SOUTHSIDE JERRY", has been entertaining audiences with his unique musical sound and style in and around
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania since the mid 1960's. By 1979, Jerry was playing his saxophone in "warm up" and back up bands
for various artists performing in Pittsburgh such as Lee Dorsey, The Temptations,
The O'Jays, The Coasters and many more.
Jerry's incomparable sax and vocal style has been heard from Trump's Plaza in Atlantic City, N.J. through the French quarters
blues bars in New Orleans to Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Although the BLUES 'N' 'AT CD is the first release as a leader, he can be heard on numerous recording sessions with local
Pittsburgh groups. He can also be seen in videos that feature nationally known artists such as
The Clovers and The Marcels.
JERRY currently performs with various local and national entertainers. When time permits he is the
front man of his own five piece blues/jazz ensemble he calls The BLUES 'N' AT BAND. (The name is a play on
Pittsburgh vernacular aka.'PITTSBURGHEES').
The BLUES 'N' AT CD won Pittsburgh's EXCEL AWARD for best independently produced Jazz/Blues record in 1997.
"When you see Southside Jerry in a performance, it is like seeing one of the classy acts of the 50's, 60's or 70's. His
stage presence, dress and entertainment value is worth the price of admission."
